GL044 Slice of Life

This piece underscores a vignette of a typical morning routine. I imagine our main character wakes up, brushes his/her teeth, dresses, and bikes to work waving hello to everyone they know. They stop at the same shop and get the same bagel and coffee, and pet the same dog on the way out the door.

My oldest sister was an aspiring professional flautist. Every day from the age of 11 she would wake up early and start playing her flute at 5am so she could get a couple hours of practice in before school. As such, the sound of the flute always reminds me of the morning.

The harmonic progression on this one is kind of funky. Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure the entire thing is built out of major #11 chords (overt or implied).
