Ami Yamato - Mandalorian: The Blind Date

I’m thrilled to announce that a collaboration I did with animator/youtuber Ami Yamato has been released. For this project, I was require to write some Mandalorian soundalike music which necessitated spending a decent amount of time deep listening to the scores of Ludwig Göransson. I ended up designing a bunch of synth sounds from the ground up, bought and learned how to play a bass recorder (kind of) and wrote several “study” tracks before feeling ready to work on the score. Göransson’s music is fascinating in that on the surface level it sounds pretty straight forward, but he’s got some pretty intricate production tricks up his sleeves once you dig into the tracks a bit more. I feel as though I’ve come out of this project having learned a learned several lessons. In the end, the score is still a soundalike, but I’m incredibly proud with how it turned out.

Typically I reserve this blog for my Game Loop/Animation stock music releases, but given the recent media buzz around Pluto, I figured this would be topical. This track was written in 2006 and released on an album in 2013.
